John L. Leckie, Director

John L. Leckie earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Bishops University in 1968. IN 1977 he completed Harvard Business School's Program for Management Development (PMD).

With over 35 years at Toronto-Dominion Bank, Mr. Leckie brings a wealth of banking and financial management experience to Rutter's Board. His early responsibilities included the marketing of TD's financial services to Multinational Companies both in Canada and the U.S., including several years on Wall Street. This experience also encompassed acquisitions including managing issues related to leveraged buyouts and hostile takeovers.

In 1991, he became TD's Vice-President of Global Cash Management Products, where he gained expertise in electronic cash management and the securing of payments in the international arena. From 1995 to 1998 he held the position of Senior Vice-President of Commercial and Small Business Banking with TD. In this capacity he assumed a key role in the attempted merger of TD/CIBC, adding considerable communications experience to his credentials. This work involved dealing with various publics including the political community as he dealt with legislative challenges TD faced while competing in an increasingly global industry.

From 1998 until his retirement in 2003, Mr. Leckie acted as Managing Director of Global Trade Finance, amassing knowledge in the areas of international risk management and export financing. His responsibility for branch offices in Southeast Asia, South America and Mexico are a particularly relevant fit with Rutter's market profile.
